The increase in production and commercial success enjoyed by Benelli led to the company widening its product range. Thus in 1934 the 220 Sport version was born, manufactured alongside the 250 and 500. The bike had similar lines to the 175, but with a modified and improved stance for a significantly more imposing and sporty result. The engine was a 215 cc four-stroke single-cylinder model tilted forwards 12 degrees; the cylinder and head were made of cast iron, and it used two exhaust pipes.
